A Doxford type 58JS3 marine oil engine built in 1977/78, and one of the last engines to be built at the Doxford Engine Works in Sunderland. Ten examples of this type of engine were built. Three were fitted to Ellerman 'City' Line ships, four to Furness Withy vessels, and two were built for stock (and later scrapped). This one was kept on the Test Bed at the works.
