Mid the Wild Music of the Glen

1888

Lund, Niels Moeller (1863 - 1916)

Autumn rains have turned a river into a rushing torrent in this scene. Evergreen pines have kept their colour but other trees have turned to brown. The picture shows a view in Scotland, where Neils Lund painted many pictures. He chose this dramatic scene for his 1889 exhibit at the prestigious Royal Academy exhibition in London. Neils Lund grew up in Newcastle and first studied art locally, before moving to study in Paris and London.
