Video transcript

The day started when I was picked up form Leam Lane library by James the canoeing coach, James. I was bored waiting to be picked up, however, I was excited because I hadn't been canoeing before. We got on the bus and went to collect the wet suits, life jackets, canoes, waterproof jackets and also our paddles. It was a long journey but we eventually got there.

When we did get there I realised I had been before with my primary school when I went to Duke’s House wood, it was great. We had something to eat, then we got changed into our gear.

We had to unload all the canoes from the trailer and carry them down to the bank to the water. I paired up with my friend Chucky who wasn't that good at canoeing. We were going backwards when we were really meant to go forwards.

We then stopped for something to eat. Then we swapped partners, me and Keagan were great at canoeing, we worked properly as a team.

When we were having lunch, Chucky, my friend, was saying I was bad but I proved him wrong when we swapped partners because like I said we won everything to do with canoeing.

We got back into the boats and we had a game of Gladiator. It was great, Gladiator is where you stand on the side of the canoe and shake it so whoever falls off first loses. When I fell off and the paddle fell on my nose. It really hurt.

We then paddled all the way around the lake. We had to wait every 5 minutes because we were going too fast.

We then went back and got all our boats back on the trailer, and got changed out of our wetsuits, and then went to the toilet afterwards. But before getting changed we all jumped into the water to celebrate it but our youth worker Kerry didn’t. We had a long journey home but after a little sleep in the van we got there eventually. All in all it was a great day and I thank Futures Plus, my youth club, for such a special day out.

Well done Mark on your all your hard work, really good story, Kerry.Posted on 09/10/2009 at 10:48:50
