Video transcript

When I was about 12, 13 old and very unhappy at the point in my life. When I was in  Netherton Park children’s home for one day of the week about 10 of us were chosen to go to the Hancock museum for being good for once. I myself was totally excited as the dinosaur exhibition was on. I can’t remember the journey there but I can remember the bright yellow minibus that got us there. When I got into the Hancock I was so excited I looked at one particular dinosaur for the sheer size. And my favourite of all the dinosaurs for about one hour and it was the T Rex, the most ferocious meat eater alongside the velociraptor which I could understand the attractiveness people got from them. It was amazing that these animals once walked the earth at different times. I was amazed how they put these dinosaurs together as if they were a lego set and it wasn’t until I was a lot older I found out how they did it.

I’m 33 year old now and I still watch anything to do with dinosaurs. They still mesmerise me and give me very fond memories to this day. Other dinosaurs were the stegosaurus, diplodocus which were also magnificent animals. I can remember getting wrong off a member of staff for going and doing my own thing and touching these monsters. But it was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. It was a small price to pay doing dishes for a week and losing my pocket money for not doing as I was told and touching the exhibits.
