Hi, Shaun Andrew, 12th August 2009. Experiences and expressions from my heart.
One in four people in their adult life experience the challenges of mental health.
Such as feeling the following – joy, pain, happiness, desperation, sadness, addiction,
homelessness leading back to rehabilitation and the need for hope. Here’s my story
by poem.
My poem - Pride before a fall but always continue to walk tall
Catch me, I’m falling so fast
Gravity pushing me over the edge
Leading me to the demons of my past
Why me when childhood was so good?
And my adolescence spent mainly being told that I could
Then as an adult came the complacence
Without any warning depression, anxiety and impatience
These being the symptoms of my hidden illness
Yes, me, isolation and addiction and loneliness had become my nemesis
Constantly compromising my character with my addiction
Gambling money I hadn’t got without inhibition
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change
And again let life be stable and not seem so strange
No more hurt for me or the ones I love
Please give me the courage to change up above
In my mind, in my thoughts, please let them be strong
And create the awareness to others who also might go wrong
Now my journey starts again, starting with crumbs of comfort
But I know I can’t get better without any effort
So I start on my quest to regain the happy times my pictures reflect
And work constantly on my health without neglect
This region of culture is where I was born
God bless mum and dad for my life not being completely torn
Thank you for taking the time out to listen to my insight
Take care all, stay out of the dark and move into the light
Don’t forget to hug the people that matter and tell them you love them
Bye
