My name is Shirin. I was born in Banglades in Syhlet. I have 4 brothers and 3 sisters. I am the youngest.
One day when I was in primary School my teacher asked me and my class what is family? When he asked this question nobody understood as he said it in English. He explained how family means you mum, dad, brothers, sisters and uncles. He also said we should never forget this because one day we will have a family of our own and be parents. So now I still remember what a family is.
When I was young we used to go to mosque everyday in the morning. Our mosque teacher used to put us in groups and teach us the prayers. When mosque finished everyone went home in groups and our mosque teacher would stand on the roof and watch us all go home. In Bangladesh you can get on the roof and see the whole village as there are stairs that go to the roof and the roofs are flat. That is another thing I will never forget.
In high school we used to travel to school on something called a rickshaw. A rickshaw is a cart pulled by someone riding a bike .
In 1989 when I was 16 I went on a plane for the first time and I was so excited and I loved it .This plane journey was to Surrey in London. In Surrey I started my first English class. I was so scared as I didn't know anyone there but then I got used to it.
Now I am in Newcastle as I got married to my husband from here and moved here with him and now I am carrying on with my English lessons and I love it.
