When I saw the picture of the crowds of miners in the museum, I remembered going
to see Sunderland play. I know that crowds of people go to concerts or football
matches but I never imagined a huge crowd of people going to work. I think that a lot
of things can remind you of football but not necessarily in a mining exhibit in a
museum.
On 27th of January 2009 I remember walking over the Monkwearmouth bridge and
going to the football with my dad. I had my brilliant Sunderland Association Football
club scarf on, it was cold and dark, it was a match at night. On the way there my dad
got a burger and I got a tray of chips but my dad had to finish the chips because I
was slow eating them and if I had finished them we would have missed the start of
the match. The match suddenly started as the referee quickly blew his whistle. I
think that sometimes Sunderland may win and I also try to keep my hopes up and
this time I was hoping a lot. I was thinking, I hope they win, come on win, I also
cheered but oh no half time and they are only drawing with Fulham who only scraped
being relegated before the last day last season. I enjoyed the game and brilliantly
Sunderland won 1-0. Sunderland won against Fulham, thankfully, Fulham were in
bright yellow strips. I like red and white striped strips better.
I remember doing a school project about it and now I am doing a project about it at
culture shock.
