I used to live in Yemen for nearly 11 years, me and my family did not have a lot of
opportunities to do things like we have now. In Yemen me and my family had loads of
friends and relatives that are so close to us and, that we miss so much.
Suddenly my parents told me and my siblings that we are going to Britain, but without
my dad. Me and my family were quite sad to leave, but excited to start a new life in
Britain. Few weeks later it was time for us to leave Yemen, we were so sad to leave our
relatives and friends, but the saddest part was leaving my dad. However, they all know
that we left for good.
We arrived to London it felt weird being there without knowing how to speak English
well, we stayed there for few days then we got sent to a hostel in Barnsley which we
had to stay there for couple of weeks until we find a house. Finally we found a
temporary house in Gateshead which we stayed in it for few months and started in a
school which was next to it.
But then we had to move to another temporary house which was still in Gateshead, so
we basically had to move to different houses until the council find us a house, few
months later the council found us a house which is quite big and comfortable. Now
nearly 2 years passed since I came to Britain, I can speak English well and I still go to
the same school. I know get involved in loads of different stuff like being a member of a
youth club, a dance factor group and a drama group in the Life Theatre. Now I am 13 I
have a lot to learn and a lot to do and a lot more opportunities being in Britain.
