Video transcript

Becca: Me and Jade first met at nursery and along with her little sister, the three of us have been pretty much best friends ever since. The dress up exhibit in the museum reminded us of the games we used to play together.

Jade: Me and Becca would dress up as princesses, pop stars and characters from our favourite films. One of our favourite films at the time were the 'Mary Kate and Ashley' films. One in particular film is 'Our Lips Are Sealed' where Mary Kate and Ashley go to Australia, we would argue over who would play who.

Becca: Another Mary Kate and Ashley film was 'Winning London', where the girls take a trip to Westminster. Ever since watching this film me and Jade have had our hearts set on living in London when we're older.

Jade: We would act out Disney films so we could dress up in pretty princess dresses, and sing along to our favourite Kylie and S Club songs. Each day we would come up with a new game and dress up idea. We would put on shows for our family and by the end of the day our parents would be sick of us!

Becca: As we grew up our child-like imagination faded and we found ourselves not being able to come up with these ideas anymore. It was a shame only watching films instead of pretending to be the people in them!

Jade: But about a year ago we started dancing lessons together and we have to dress up for the shows, so we now have an excuse!

My grandfather, Jay B. Linehan satrted with a bowling alley in that building. I remember visiting him when I was 13. Later he changed it to a country western music venue and then Rock-N-Roll. Although Mr. Epstein was the major force in the success of the club, I can't help feel somewhat nostalgic as I remember back. I lived in Arizona during the years the club was popular. I did come out to Roslyn in the summer of '75 when I was 19 and enjoyed the benefits of being family. It was one big party and the atmosphere was often electric' and the crowds were outrageous as were the acts. I remember seeing dr. hook and the medicine show and the atlanta rhythm section, janis ian and so many other great acts. It was a great summer for me. Thanks for establishing this site. Although Mr. Epstein was so instrumental in making this club so successful I will alway remeber it as My (Grand) Father's Place.Paul WilliamsonPosted on 30/03/2012 at 07:22:22
