Video transcript

Goths are known to this day as freaks. Harsh words I must say. I’m Jynx and yes, I am a goth. I actually remember the very first time I wore goth clothes, I never felt so comfortable in my life. I enjoyed the nights out and everything but something bothered me….

I wanted to know where goths originally came from so I did some research.

Allegedly we are from the third or fourth century so we have been around for a very long time. Oh, and did I forget to mention we were great, fierce and feared warriors. Then a few centuries down the line, out of the blue, the Victorians came out with brilliant clothes and fabulous make-up styles. So because of that Goths appeared again but they were known as men who walked like death.

Since all those years Goths are still around so I’m proud to call myself a goth because most civilisations are corrupted, lost forever or even forgotten. So for us to still be here makes me feel privileged and be honoured instead of being classed as a part of a majority or group or cult, but just to me with what I feel comfortable in and doing. So I will never forget the past.

Good for you. I was a goth in the 80s. Is it me or are most goths you see at least 7 ft tall? Maybe that's why they wear trench coats. To cover the stilts.Posted on 08/01/2010 at 11:25:37
