Video transcript

The year was nineteen hundred and ninety. My granddaughter was seven and my grandson was two. We had a wonderful day out. I could never forget that day it was so very interesting and ever since the day I went to Hancock museum I’ve been very interested in going to other museums. All over in England and also when I go abroad. I was surprised at how large the Hancock was inside and how many different things to see.

The first thing I remember seeing was an Indian chief’s headdress and then I saw a canoe and a paddle. Then I went around and there were some very old coins and also tools of different shapes and sizes. I will be going back to the museum when it gets open again meanwhile I am still going to other museums because they are very good for me to get more knowledge about different things.

The other museums I’ve been to – one was in a windmill, I saw some baby’s shoes and clothes from 1800s. I’ve also been to see the motor museum and the train museums. As I’ve got older I’ve got more time to see and do things. I would have never thought of doing like going to art museums and exhibitions until I was a pensioner. Life gets better as I’m older. I’m now seventy seven years old and I find other things to do in my life such as visiting the castles and also the Roman wall, bits and pieces of Hadrian’s wall as I do not drive, I just get to see these places by going on tours and travelling by bus to wherever I can go.
