Video transcript

You know how every parent waits for their very first word – ‘mum, mama, dada’. Oh no, clearly over the air waves came the word – trac-tor. Just like this. There began a childhood of mostly wheelie things – ‘look mum, a train!’. There were a few cuddly favourites to tell all the day’s events to like Uni and Scabbers. Whispered stories in bed. ‘I think my favourite today was the car transporter’ ‘I got in a plane at the show’ Oh, something without wheels. ‘The balloon with grandma was cool’ ‘It’s a sea thingy’  And then ‘can we go shopping today? I love shopping!’ Gosh that phase didn’t last long! Over the years the theme has progressed. Mum remembers Thunderbirds the first time round. And Doctor Who when it was William Hartnell. Hotwheels covered every surface. The train sets were amazing. But now everything seems to appear and move by magic. The future? You know the moment every parent dreads is about to happen. ‘Oh, you know Michael said today, before I start proper driving lessons I can have a go with his tractor’.

Nicely written, a lovely journey of a story.Posted on 10/11/2009 at 03:18:01
