Video transcript

It was still dark when I stepped off the coach. I had never seen a boat before so I didn't really know what to expect. We all walked over to the boat each with a different expression on our face, mine was amazement, it was beautiful. As we stepped onto the boat we were greeted by cheerful men, despite the early hour. Our whole day was packed with sightseeing and it was nice to see all the famous pyramids and temples. It was truly breathtaking. However, it was nice to come back to the boat for afternoon tea, whilst watching the sunset over the sandbanks and disappear into the Nile river.

The day we took a three hour coach ride into Abu Simbel was the most surreal experience I have ever had. I could not sleep on the coach as I was waiting for the sun to start rising and I was desperate to see the mirage across the Sahara. It was unbelievable. If I didn't know any better, I wouldn't have believed that there wasn't water in the desert. Of course I knew it was a trick of the light but it was still beautiful.

The next day when we took a little boat to a collection of islands was equally exciting. It looked just like the one in the museum and when I saw it all of these memories came flooding back. Egypt was simply unforgettable.
