When I was 16 my dad died. It was a really bad time for us because my dad was the
only earning parson in my family. 2 years later I got marred to a British man so I
could not finish my studying.
In 2000 I arrived at the UK. It was a new world for me. I was so busy with family all
the time. It was so depressing. I wanted to be a career women but did not know how.
I felt very hopeless.
Things started to improve when my kids started school. I took esol classes. I felt like
I was a student again. I enjoyed every second of my English classes. I want to earn
money because I know how important it is. When the English classes finished I
applied for a job at Westgate Hill Primary School as a dinner lady. I had really nice
enjoying the new job and children.
I still remember that day I checked my bank balance .My eyes were full of tears. It’
was my money, I could do anything with this money. Now I fell confident,
independent and proud of myself.
