Video transcript

When I was eleven years old I went on a trip with middle school to the Hancock museum. One memory of the Hancock I am certain to not forget. First of all I remember the armour. I remember that not many of my friends stood around and looked for too long, not the way I did. I don’t know what it was at the time that made me admire the armour. Maybe it was the fact it had been used a long time before and had been in a lot of action, you could only imagine, but still had that amazing shine. I remember seeing armour with dints in and wondering ‘how did that get there?’. To see the armour like this made my brain go into another world.

The Hancock has started something off for me I will never forget. When I got my mam noticed I liked to armour so much that she bought us tickets to a knight’s show at the grounds of Alnwick castle. The show lasted about an hour and a half. It started with two knights jousting and went on with various market stalls but obviously I was only interested in the knights. I was so excited as they galloped on their horses around and around with the jousting poles on their proud horses. After the show and years later I still admire the armoured knights and that’s all down to my trip to Hancock museum.
