This is the story of my journey through music...
Music has always meant something for me, from the very first steps of my life. It has
always inspired me to do things and has always made me think...
As I became older I started asking myself questions, trying to understand what is it
that music is for me.
Does music have a meaning behind it?
Does it always need to be accompanied by words to convey a message?
What is music really?
What is its story?
When did it first come to existence? Or maybe it has always been around...maybe it
is just something that we imagine to be music...people's perception about it
changes...every century something new comes forward, something old is forgotten,
and sometimes, something old is remembered and made new...
But then, I realised that music can be anything, its just different for every one of
us...it is the sounds of the world...all sounds...
the rain...
the birds...
the sea...
someone's heartbeat...
Music can make you calm, violent, free, happy, sad but will always be different...
Music changes our lives, influencing every step we take.
It has most certainly changed my life. When I cam to England in June 2007, aged 16,
and joined a theatre group called Mongrel UK, I did not know how much it was going
to change for me...
"Singing", I said, "no, its not for me, I’d rather listen"...but a year later I was standing
in front of a massive audience, singing a solo part in a play called "Antigone". I
worked hard to get to this and having always thought that i cannot sing and that I am
rubbish at anything musical, it was a big challenge for me. But after overcoming this
challenge I became confident that I could do anything if I put my mind to it...
So music HAS changed my life made me a different person, a better person
and now, that i got to this point, I feel that I need to say these two words to everyone
who has helped me become what I am
THANK YOU
