Video transcript

This picture reminds me of when I was little and my granddad and grandma took me to the beach. We had a picnic with my grandma’s pretty blanket and yummy food. After the picnic my sister and I made a sandcastle. As I was so small it seemed like it towered above me. My grandma had found a pretty seashell and placed it on the top, it shimmered in the light as we ran around. Afterwards we went to play in the sea, my sister got water in her eyes and went to my grandma crying, leaving me alone. Stupidly I went so far into the cold deep sea and as I couldn’t swim I started to drown. I saw the surface of the water rise up as I sank deeper and deeper. I was surprisingly calm, it was like being in a trance. All of a sudden a pair of arms grabbed me and I was safe, my grandma saved me. The next thing I was wrapped in a warm towel and was in the car going home. I didn’t fully understand what had happened and now I can swim thank god.

I liked 'Saved by the Gran' because it talked about a life threatening situation that was resolved by her family. The water plopping sound was a shock!Posted on 01/12/2009 at 10:55:28

I had a similar close shave in the North Sea. My Gran wasn't on hand to save me though- a friendly surfer was!Posted on 19/01/2010 at 11:30:01
