Walking past a shop in Gateshead out of the corner of my eyes I seen some cool groovy shoes in a shop window. I spent a week begging my mam for them. I nagged her everyday until she gave in.

I was so surprised when one week later when I was staying at my nanas my mam walked in saying she has a surprise! She gave me a box and inside were a pair of pink and black heelies. First time I tried them on I found it a bit difficult to skate and fell over but I kept on practicing. The second time I could skate down the street on them, taking my time. But on the third time I went too fast and fell over - and ouch it hurt. I had to go to hospital and the x ray confirmed my ankle was broken! I had to wear a luminous pink plaster for 12 weeks.

In those long 12 weeks I had a lot of time to think about skating. I really wanted to do it well. When my ankle healed I was brave and said I am having another go and put them on and started skating around the streets again and now I wear them all the time nearly everywhere I go I wear them.
