Video transcript

When I was born I had to go to Newcastle to get an operation on my stomach because I was a tof baby.   A tof baby is someone who is born with their food pipe doesn't reach their stomach, so I had to go to Newcastle to get an operation on it. Many people with my condition die within 3 to 4 hours of birth.

I was lucky. If it wasn't for the head surgeon, I don't think I'd be alive today. When my mam told me this, I now live life to the full.

what a brave, clever boy you are John, your parents must be really proud to have you for a son.Posted on 23/11/2009 at 03:25:36
