Train journeys... Some find them boring, a drag. But some find them fun, quite interesting. Some like them, some don't. Simple. It's quite different from travelling by car or bus. Firstly, you must purchase a ticket. A ticket is like a pass to your own open road or at least anywhere on the train’s route. Without it, your plans and adventures are blocked by the ticket swipers. So you've got your ticket, your past the barriers then BAMB..."The 3.30 train to Newcastle is running late, it is expected to arrive at around 3.45". So your plans are on pause ...

But it's not all bad, treasure the moment, remember it. There's usually a yellow line, of which you must stand behind when a train is passing because the trains are so fast. There's very little to look at on the platform - the train track, the few people, the odd few advertisements. The times ticking on, around 3.32. I result in sitting in the waiting room. It was very quiet, there was only a few people there, carrying their umbrellas and leather briefcases, reading newspapers…the author looking type.

Tick, tock, tick, tock... went the clock... The time was ticking, ticking by. It would be nice to have an actual pause button in life, to capture the moment, take a picture. A rattling noise, the train was coming. I went outside, to see the train arriving, I took a picture, of the moment, when my plans had been taken off pause and put into action. You must be careful getting on the train because there is a gap from the platform to the train. I found my seat, a one by the window and with a table. The view out of the window is rather interesting, passing through the odd few towns, lot of trees. Whilst on the train I listened to my iPod of which I take everywhere with me. The drinks trolley came along, pushed by a small old woman. I bought an apple juice as a refreshment. I pressed pause on my iPod, and now my story ends on pause.

A train ticket is more than a piece of card to me, it's a memory of a journey to some place new or back home (where I belong).
